This was painted in 2004.
I dug it out of storage and I found written in ink pen on the back…
Clairise

A soul not black,
Not evil or cruel,
A soul so empty, devoid of cares.
Not impressed with my words or the painting, but I do remember that when I did it I found myself done before the CD I had put in to listen to had finished. I guess I’d consider it a paint sketch more than a finished painting, but it is finished. It is finished because once I got to this point (kinda a sketchy under painting) I thought it said all I needed it to say and continuing with working on it would have just been a waste of time.
My reason to pull it out of storage was to remix it digitally, but I could never get a remix I was satisfied with. Eventually I gave up and stopped at this…
It sucks so bad I feel hate towards it. Well, disgust is probably a better description of my feeling, but either way I am sure you get the picture.
You may be thinking “why did he upload this if he hates it so bad?”
I will tell you why…
It is because I have learned that one person’s awesome is another person’s crap and vice versa. Sure this is pure and total crap, but then again some of the biggest pop star singers in the world have never made anything except crap. Some of the most known contemporary illustrators / artists can’t draw as well as some 5th graders and think putting a bit of jam on some vanilla ice cream makes it into a new and original treat. For all I know this will be some people’s very favorite Zombie Doll remix.
Though I am no Van Gogh I always think of him when I detest something I have made. Many of his most loved by the masses works are the ones he hated because they lacked anything of value to his eye. Indeed the artist and the art aficionado are different creatures.
