Music Stuff

I’m regularly asked about my various music projects these days.
Since I am not a musician of any great talent, I guess that’s cool. Some people seem to like it.
You can find it on most streaming platforms, and YouTube has a Music Topic Page with a large selection of it that requires no sign up. I don’t have any control of it, it’s something YouTube does.

I have my own YouTube as well, which is not music focused, but I upload many songs (often along with drawing videos) that you won’t find on any streaming services. They are often just raw guitar bits, no fine tuning, and you’ll even find some original versions of the songs you find on streaming services which haven’t been through the process of of being cleaned up and made palatable for the masses. As an example you can watch me draw up a cover sketch for my song The weight of a broken soul on Youtube. The song version I used in the video is the original aka cruddy natural version. Then you can Listen to The weight of a broken soul on spotify to hear a cleaned up and mastered version. You will also note that I did not use my original cover idea for the song which I am doing a rough sketch for in the video.

The two big streaming services, which are Spotify and Apple seem to hate me. Amazon is growing, but also hates me. I can’t complain, I don’t subscribe to any services myself. It’s all the other odd services that seem to like me.
As of this writing, (6/12/2026)I’m most popular in Greece. That was definitely a surprise, but also not because Greece has been a place where I have sold a lot of paintings and drawings over the years. Many of my original works go to European countries. I think it’s because they are a bit more artistically open and appreciate real artists and original works, while here in the USA many people are a bit uptight and more after meaningless decor. Americans are more apt to go with mass produced posters than originals as well. Considering I am a USA based artist, you’d think I’d sell more here, but that’s not the case. Get with it Americans! Check it out HERE.

Music Streams Top 6 for 2026

If you are wondering about my music process… This is how I usually do things.

  1. I write lyrics.
  2. I create the rhythms and such with an acoustic guitar. You’ll notice a lot of looped guitar in my stuff.
  3. I record the vocals. It usually takes multiple attempts to get what I want.
  4. I create simple drum tracks with a keyboard. I can’t play drums.
  5. I record extras I am capable of like harmonica. You may notice other odd sounds like lap slapping and finger clicking, that’s me keeping it simple. Everything is an instrument.
  6. I add everything else through DAW. I’m amateur level at sound engineering too, so, no I can’t help you.
  7. I mess with my vocals to get weird vibes.
  8. I have a friend or two listen to the mess, and I sometimes run it through some ai to get different takes.
  9. I download the stems for bits I like.
  10. I run it through some DAW again to get everything how I want it.
  11. I run it through some ai to polish it all up and master sound levels for streaming. If you are wondering about that part, basically everyone does this now. The reason is that ai mastering services cost around $10 (at time of this writing) while a decent sound engineer (see number 6) charges $50 to $100 per song, and for people not making a bunch of Benjamins in music, that adds up.
  12. I create album or track art. I usually do this with plain black ink on pure white because I like the stark contrast and I am known for very colorful paintings. It’s a separation and style thing.

So… That’s about it.
Many of my songs can’t be performed live because I have messed with them so much. A majority however can. I’ve especially be leaning towards the more simple and straightforward this last year because of the massive amount of purely ai created songs being uploaded to services. It is my belief that eventually playing live will become a big thing again so I’m drifting musically towards that raw simple grit of youthful band houses that existed in the 80’s. It’s all for fun.

Here are a few artsy projects I have completed recently.

  1. Elegiac Reminiscences of a one time gallery hopper on Spotify. This is a trilogy and a ‘fictional’ story of a couple of artsy people a couple of decades ago. A semi successful visual artist and a very successful musical artist. They both had strange lives, touring, being judged, etc. He had always wished to be a bit better with the music. She had always wished to be a bit better with the paint. Both had kinda given it up, but they loved art. They had a strange multi year affair of sorts, and they also had a few bad habits. Their favorite thing to do was gallery hopping together in they various cities they visited because of their careers. Someone once told me the only good love stories are the ones that just end with “and they lived happily ever after.” If we knew the rest of the story it’d have been a tragedy. I still refuse to believe that is the case always. Foolish me.
  2. Maudlin Poetry With White Russians In A Windowless Room on YouTube. The title says it all. It is poetry set to music. It was recorded in a windowless room. I was drinking white russians. The poems are maudlin. “Write drunk, edit sober” is what Peter De Vries said. I have used this method in the past to paint, and write both, but sometimes it is best to just do the whole thing buzzed and refuse to edit out the bullshit.
  3. Poetry Under The Flower Moon is a poetry collection that was created as blend of a regular poetry readings and or recitation with song. Think of it as spoken and sung at the same time. Not exactly songs, but not just a recitation. The poems are short and poignant.

I assume I have babbled enough on the music stuff, So I’ll leave you with that.

Check out my tunes, subscribe to me on your streaming platform of choice, share them around, and let me know what you think if you meet me (or already know me) in person.

If you happen to be a musician who digs my stuff, and you also work in the visual arts, I’d possibly be down to do a collaboration on a song and a visual art fusion. With any sort of collabs or fusion work in art I do not like to be billed at the top, just credited in the fine print. A nom de plume will most likely be my request so it doesn’t even show with my regular stuff. I just like the creative anomalies that come about in such situations.
