Title = “Demeter in the view of mortals”<\/p>\n

\"A<\/a><\/p>\n

Demeter was in myth the goddess of the harvest. She controlled the fertility of the land and was worshiped for giving of the foods that grew.
\nDemeter also presided also over the sanctity of marriage and the kept the cycles of life and death.
\nShe and her daughter Persephone were the central figures of the Eleusinian Mysteries<\/a>.
\nThere are many stories involving this goddess that place her among mortals in various guises.
\nThis particular work of art was inspired by one such event.<\/p>\n

I created this with straight black ink followed by watercolor washes.<\/p>\n
